Attention: Online protest is now available in some cases. Please read the following carefully
to see if this is an option for you.
If you received an appraisal notice with a PIN# included and choose to file an appeal of your 2017 property, there are two options. Either complete the enclosed protest form and mail it in, or protest online. You must have a valid email address. The District will keep your email address confidential. Through the online system, you will communicate with the District about your protest. You may accept or reject any offer made by the Appraisal District.
After you have registered online, filed your appeal, and entered your opinion of value, you will be contacted by the Appraisal District. If a settlement is offered, you may accept or decline the offer. If you accept the offer, the District will change the value and send a confirmation email. The protest will be closed. If you do not accept the offer or a settlement is not offered, you will receive a time and date for a formal hearing.
The online protest system allows for an exchange of information with the Appraisal District. You will have the opportunity to upload photos, documents, or any other data you would like the District to review. A messaging system is available, but is limited to discussions pertaining to your property. Comments deemed offensive or abusive may result in the removal of your ability to message the District.
If you would like to speak with an appraiser please visit the Appraisal District office located at 212 Jackson St, Bastrop TX or please call (512) 303-1930.
